What it detects

  • People. Names, surnames and addresses, by column name.
  • Identifiers. Emails, Spanish DNI and NIE numbers, phone numbers, IBANs and CUPS codes, by column name or content.
  • Location. Postcodes and coordinates.

How each column is hidden

  • Clear. Deletes the value.
  • Mask. Only shows the beginning and the end (jo****om).
  • Pseudonym. Replaces it with a code, always the same for the same value (Persona_001).
  • Hash. Leaves an irreversible fingerprint, the same for equal values. With your own key, you can match files.
  • Generalise. The postcode becomes the province.

Anonymise or pseudonymise?

Clearing and generalising reduce the information that can identify a person. Pseudonyms and hashes hide the value but still let you link the rows of the same person; that is why, under the GDPR, pseudonymised data is still personal data. Choose the method according to what you need to do with the file.

Review before exporting

You can include or exclude each column, change its method and compare the original with the result before exporting it to CSV or Excel.

Free-text columns

Detection works column by column. Check free-text columns, such as notes or comments: they may contain personal data that is not detected.

Your file is never uploaded

The anonymisation runs inside your browser. Your data is not sent to any server, not even ours. We only count how often the tool is used, anonymously.
